Decentralization of the Health system
These are some of the few things the Peruvian government has worked on for the last year in the matter of decentralization of the health system.
Last November, 25 specialists provided medical care and surgery in Ayacucho
On November 10, in the province of Ayacucho, 25 specialists provided preventive, medical, and surgical care that benefited the population with insurance.
The services provided were family medicine, internal medicine, and general medicine. They also had specialists in pneumology, gastroenterology, nephrology, urology, gynecology, dermatology, and ophthalmology. Other services provided were traumatology, physical medicine, and rehabilitation. Specialists in dentistry, geriatrics, pediatrics, and ultrasound, also attended.
Currently, a headquarter will be created in the city of
Puquio with materials and support to be able to have the many services that
will be provided, finally, progress is being made with civic campaigns to have
an information base on how many people are insured and not insured.
The health Commission held a first decentralized hearing in Loreto
At the opening of the public hearing, the parliamentarian of Loreto and president of the Health Commission, Hitler Saavedra, indicated the importance of holding this meeting in the Loreto region, since this area was the most critical in the health emergency due to the pandemic due to which had high rates of deceased residents and was the first area where the health system, in general, collapsed due to lack of environments, equipment, and human resources.
In turn, the Vice Minister of Health, Gustavo Rosell, expressed that the Loreto region was one of the areas of the country that made it difficult to vaccinate against Covid-19, due to its very distant areas, in addition, he indicated that Loreto will have a cryogenic plant with an oxygen production of 125 m3. In this sense, he stressed that not only covid-19 is a problem for the region because dengue has grown in the area.
National Cancer Law will allow for an integrated and decentralized oncology network
An investment of 5,000 million soles is expected over the next 10 years, of which 404 million soles this year will be for medicines. Peruvians will have the right to comprehensive cancer care and a unified institutional framework in charge of the National Institute Of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN). This investment will strengthen the infrastructure and equipment for the development of the national oncology network, including pediatric oncology services in Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cusco, Arequipa, Junín, and Loreto.
SIS transferred 90 million soles to central regions
To ensure the health coverage for more than 2.4 million people, the SIS transferred 90 million soles to the health establishments of the regional governments of Huancavelica, Huánuco, Junín, and Pasco. In 2021, the SIS financed more than 16 million medical services in public health facilities in the central area of our country.
The SIS is important because it guarantees free medicines, medical supplies, laboratory tests and images, hospitalization, surgical interventions, and even transplants, if necessary.
MINSA will strengthen the care of health services in the Ucayali region
During the 8th Decentralized Council of Ministers, the Minister of Health, Jorge Lopez Peña, announced that by August, the department of Ucayali will receive three type II ambulances for the hospitals of Pucallpa, Yarinacocha, and Aguaytía, to improve their equipment. He also announced that the National Center for the Supply of Strategic Health Resources (CENARES) and the Army will sign an agreement to transfer the medicine to the hospitals in time.
In conclusion, these advances will help the Peruvian population to access better health treatments, and won't spend a lot of money on transportation to Lima. We hope that the government keeps working towards the decentralization of the health system.
